Is God mad at us?

Do you think the wrath of God is being unleashed by all of the earthquakes and tsunamis lately? Think again. There is a geological phenomenon called “The Ring of Fire” that roughly goes around the edge of the Pacific Ocean and 75% of all the earthquakes occur in that area. It is caused by the juncture of the earths tectonic plates moving together. Volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis are all part of the same family.

I read that Japan usually can count on around 1,500 quakes per year although they are not usually a magnitude 9.0 and obviously tsunamis are  rarer; however, the seismic activity is frequent and often goes unnoticed.

The most active spot in the U.S. is Alaska where they have dozens of quakes every year but, because of the vastness of the land and the sparseness of the population, we seldom hear about any great disasters.

Back to my first question about the wrath of God. What we see happening is certainly devastating but , I think, it’s all natural.  The earth is just doing what comes natural with no malice or forethought.

I pray that God will be merciful to all of the victims of this devastating event.
